SAN JOSE, Antique August 5 (PIA) - -  The youth organization of St. Anthony’s College dubbed as SAC-Student Republic committed their support to ‘Likas Tama’ Program.

Likas Tama is an environmental program of St. Anthony’s College aimed at promoting a responsive consciousness and cooperative work among students and stakeholders towards sound solid waste management, environmental conservation and protection program.

It is coined from the word ‘Likas” and ‘Tama’ which means natural and right respectively. It means to do what is naturally right for the environment.

Steven A. Checa,  President of SAC-SR said they have passed a resolution supporting this program  by reactivating its Brigada Campus Clean Up Drive.

St. Anthony’s College has launched on Monday August 4, 2014 the Likas Tama program in partnership with other agencies of government, private media and non-government organizations.

On the other hand, Margie L. Gadian, Manager of Philippine Information Agency-Antique lauded the efforts of the advocates of Likas Tama program.

“This is a timely response to the call on climate change advocacy”, she said.

The schools and students/youth in particular are the strategic partners of this endeavor for they will be the stewards of the next generation, thus they should get involved in environmental conservation and protection, Gadian said.

“We also encouraged other youth organizations to take part in the climate change advocacy.  Aside from environmental concerns it also include disaster preparedness and other climate change mitigation and adaptation programs,” she said. (JCM/PSM/PIA6 Antique)
