SAN JOSE, Antique – To maximize the campaign and increase awareness against human trafficking, the Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) law enforcers underwent a Philippine Information System on Trafficking or PHILIST training last March 12, Saturday, at the San Jose Parish Hall this town.
It was attended by the Women and Children Protection Desk officers and Police Community Relations Officers from the 18 police stations in the province.
The training was conducted by Manila based personnel of the Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) headed by Mr. Edwin C. Pajares, Senior Emigrant Services Officer of the Policy, Planning and Research Division who also acted as the Resource Speaker of the activity.
The CFO personnel were in the province of Antique and Guimaras from March 6-13 to conduct a community education program.
" The PHILIST is a database which compiles, matches and cross reference various data on trafficking incidents and cases involving Filipinos within or across the national borders," Pajares said.
The cops were given awareness on Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking Persons in Act of 2003; the Fights Against Trafficking Person: The Philippine Experience and were taught on how to access and how to properly fill-up the Standard Reporting Format (SRF) and PHILIST.
"The cops specifically those who are responding to women and children victims and trafficking cases are mandated to use the SRF and PHILIST, and with the proper use of SRF and PHILIST, there will be a comprehensive databank for monitoring, documentation and prosecution of trafficking incidents," Pajares said.
The PHILIST is a part of the CFO’s nationwide implementation of the Community Education Program (CEP) on Migration and Human Trafficking in 28 provinces and two (2) cities in Metro Manila from February 13- October 22, 2011 with the theme "Handa ka naba mag-abroad? Ano ang dapat mong alamin?" – PO2 Ria May S Dela Cruz/APPOPCR/PIO
