Synchronized brgy assembly day on Mar 26

SAN JOSE, Antique — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has scheduled this year’s Synchronized Barangay Assembly Day on March 26.
Victorio Pagapulan, provincial director of DILG-6, enjoined all barangay officials to conduct the activity.
The activity will provide a venue for officials to report to their constituents and allow local residents to participate in deliberating barangay programs and activities, he said.

Officials of the 590 barangays in the province will discuss, among others, their accomplishments, financial report and barangay development plans.
DILG Memorandum Circular 2011-28 also directs local officials to discuss functionalization of barangay-based institution such as peace and order committee, council for the protection of children and barangay development council, said Ma. Irmina Magbanua of the DILG.
Also to be discussed are the barangay disaster preparedness program, solid waste management and national tree planting program.
The memo further instructs barangay officials to discuss the monitoring and strict enforcement of laws on trafficking against persons.
Barangay officials are also directed to implement guidepost in promoting and sustaining good governance; and post barangay budget, statement of income and expenditures, and other barangay financial transactions and annual procurement plan.
The event will be pursuant to Proclamation No. 342, “declaring the last Saturday of March and October every year as Synchronized Barangay Assembly Day.” (PIA/PN)
