Information officer dies at 62


SAN JOSE, Antique — The officer-in-charge of the Provincial Information Office (PIO) of the New Capitol here succumbed to his illness at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital on March 13. He was 62.

Patricio Moscoso Quanico, also called by his friends as “Pat” or “Nonoy Tisoy,” celebrated his 62nd birthday on November 11 last year.

Quanico retired on March 1. He has worked at the Governor’s Office during the administration of then Gov. Jovito Plameras Jr. as audio-visual equipment operator (July 20, 1995–March 24, 1998).
Later on, he worked as information officer I at the PIO from March 25, 1998 until April 11, 2002; information officer III from April 12, 2002 to July 1, 2010. He was appointed as officer-in-charge of the office until his retirement on March 1. He has also worked at the Antique Electric Cooperative

During his stint as PIO officer-in-charge, the “Antique Monitor” saw print every two months, specifically on September and December 2010. On February, a special issue was printed commemorating the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of Antique’s hero, Evelio B. Javier.
He was survived by his wife, Rosalyn Chavoso Quanico, a classroom teacher at the Assemblyman Segundo Moscoso Memorial School in Brgy. San Pedro, San Jose, Antique; children Lumen Marie Rose C. Quanico , an employee at the SSS in San Jose; Prijm Patrick C. Quanico, employed at the Hongkong & Shanghai Bank Corp. in Manila; John Pete Mari C. Quanico; a hotel and restaurant management student at the St. Anthony’s College; and Fourth C. Quanico, an information technology student at the STI-Iloilo; and his ree grandchildren, Yuan Patrick Quanico, Yeshuah Gabriel Mari Quanico and Yoseff Quanico.

Quanico’s remains lie in state at the family residence in Brgy. San Pedro, San Jose, Antique.

Interment will be on March 26 at the San Jose Municipal Cemetery in Brgy. San Pedro after the 2 p.m. Mass at the Catholic Parish of Saint Peter. (Antique PIO/PN)
